A360 works underway – phase two

We have made good progress on the first phase of the works between the Avenue roundabout and Church Bottom crossroads.

Work will continue over the upcoming bank holiday weekend and we expect to begin the second phase of the trenching works, between Church Bottom crossroads and Druids Lodge, from 7 May.

The phase two trenching works are anticipated to take approximately three to four weeks. A large trencher is in use, so that the work can be completed as safely and quickly as possible. Unfortunately, it is not possible for vehicles to safely pass this equipment because of the size and nature of the machinery.

The road between Stoford and Woodford will remain open with temporary traffic lights used to manage traffic flow as work moves across the junction.

Work is being carried out seven days a week and includes some overnight working so the project can be completed as quickly and safely as possible.

The temporary closure of the A360, between the Avenue roundabout and Longbarrow roundabout, will be in place until mid-July.

Please do continue to plan your journeys and allow extra time if you’re travelling at peak times.

We are working with people who live and work along the A360 to safely manage their access throughout the works. If you have any questions about access to homes and businesses on the A360, please call 03301 755 675 or email info@a360temporaryclosure.co.uk

Diverted traffic

Many thanks if you have contacted us with questions about the closure and diversion.

Traffic is being diverted via the A345 and sections of the A303 and A36. Road signs are in place to direct traffic and highlight weight restrictions on nearby roads.

We have been conducting traffic monitoring to record the volume, weight and speed of traffic. This will allow a coordinated approach with Wiltshire Council to assess the restrictions that are in place and consider the need for additional traffic calming measures.

Wiltshire Police is also conducting speed and weight checks in the area.

Additionally, you can report a driving offence, such as dangerous, careless or inconsiderate driving, through Wiltshire Police’s website.

Wiltshire Police review every report they receive and use the information to build its intelligence picture, inform policy and consider what action may be taken.

If you have any concerns or queries about the diversion signs, please do contact us at info@a360temporaryclosure.co.uk or on 0330 175 5675

Work on other sections of the A360

Over the coming weeks, the project team will continue to carry out cable laying and resurfacing works between the Avenue roundabout and Church Bottom crossroads. They will also carry out some investigative works between Druids Lodge and the Longbarrow roundabout, ahead of phase three.

Local road network

National Highways and Wiltshire Council are working together to ensure that non-urgent work on the diversion routes and roads in the immediate area is avoided during the temporary closure of the A360.

If emergency work needs to take place, as there is a risk to people or property, the council and National Highways will work closely with utilities companies and contractors to ensure as much work as possible is completed overnight and outside busy periods.
